An Article section is very similar to a Blog secion.  A Blog section is a section with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are displayed in reverse-chronological order.  An Article section, in that way, is the same as a Blog section.  The difference come from how they are meant to be used and in how they are displayed.

Blogs are meant for shorter, more frequent entries and Articles are meant for longer, more in-depth entries.  This is reflected in how they are each displayed.  Since Blogs are shorter, each entire Blog is shown on each web page.  Articles show only the first 512 characters of each article with a link to see the Full Article.  This makes it more convienent for your visitors since they are downloading less information until they find what they want.  This will also dramatically increase the speed of your website.

When you create an Article section within a given Button, the entire page inside the header, footer and menu is available for your content.

However as opposed to traditional Content pages, twenty Articles are shown on each physical web page with links to go backwards and forwards in history, ten entries at a time.


Since only the latest twenty entries show on the first page of an Article Section Page, a link to see the "Full Article is available for each Article.  This link will take you to a page that is dedicated to that specific Article.  This page serves two purposes.

First, if you needed to send someone a link to a particular Article, or you wished to post a link to it on another site, the "Full Article" Page will serve you the best since it's address is unique to that particular Article. 

The Second purpose of that page concerns Comments.  If you have a very popular Article and you choose to allow comments, you could end up with many, MANY comments.  This would be too much to show on the Article Page that shows twenty Articles at a time, so we put them on the unique "Full Article" page instead.



To add an Article Section, go to the button to which you want to add the Article Section and use the Edit Menu to add a new section.  If your not sure how to add a Section, check out our Sections page for more information.  When creating the section, change the type to Article and save it by pressing "OK".  

You are then given a page editor to add your first Article in this Section.  Once you save that page you will be taken back to the page from which you started.


Once you have created an Article Section and Page, and you have the security to edit them, you will see new items in the Edit menu to Add an Article.


If you want to Edit an Article, first click on the "Full Article" link for the particular Article.  You will then see Menu Items to Edit and Delete that Article.

Don't worry.  If you edit an Article, the date does not change.  It keeps the original entry date so your are not inconvenienced if you need to correct a fact or catch a spelling mistake.
